LOCAL youngsters were prominent in the Welsh Youth Circuit Race Championships at Tywyn on Saturday, with two gold medals and one silver going to St.Asaph's Kerfoot-Robson family (Rhos-On-Sea CC), and Rhyl Cycling Club's David Tudor taking the U10 boys bronze in only his second race.
Dylan Kerfoot-Robson, the current Welsh U12 cyclo-cross champion, added the road discipline to his championship list with a clear victory in the 12 kilometre U12 race, breaking clear early of the rest of the pack early on and maintaining a 25 second lead.
Rhyl CC's Gwyn Lovibond took sixth place, and Tom Sharp was 9th.
Seren Kerfoot-Robson rode intelligently to take second place behind Jessica Roberts (Towy Riders) in the U10 girls, and Sol Kerfoot-Robson dominated the U8 boys. James Sharp (Rhyl CC) came 7th in the Fun race.
Ysgol Llywelyn pupil David Tudor again showed plenty of spirit as he made his way through the field in the U10 boys, and produced a good sprint finish that almost carried him to the gold, only 5 bike lengths down on winner Blaenau Ffestiniog's Peter Stewart (NWMBA) across the line.
Christian Prior (Onimpex-BioRacer) took another top 20 placing on Sunday in the CDNW/Curtain Express Road Race Series, this time at Ulverston in the Lake District, the Prestatyn man finishing 15th, 4 minutes 15 seconds down on winner David Cook (Altura).
