IN the latest round of the friendly duel between Prestatyn Running Club's over-45s' chairman Arwel Jones snatched the honours last week.
A couple of times recently Des Davies has edged it, but in the Gobowen five-mile race, the third event in the Oswestry-based Pentarathon series, Jones held off Davies's challenge.
They finished in 36th and 39th places respectively, Jones in 33.44 an
d Davies in 34.28.
Rebecca Robinson led the club's ladies home in 67th place overall, with a time of 37.39, but Brenda Tiedtke was just four places further back in 38.08, to take third place in the L45 class.
Glenda Davies, who has been struggling with a leg injury, was 82nd in 39.57, and she was followed by Eleri Goddard (95th in 41.58), who was second in the L35 category, and Sharon Hulett (102nd in 43.42).
Mike Doolan made his annual trip to one of North Wales's most scenic races, the Aberdaron multi-terrain 8-miler on the Lleyn Peninsula, but this time the coastal views were spoiled by heavy rain.
Despite the weather Mike finished in exactly the same time as last year, 78.56.
George Nicholls took a minute off his pb in Sunday's Sale 10, finishing 30th overall in a class field with a time of 60.22. The only other club member taking part was Tracey Howarth, who was 241st in 1-42.23.
Members will be in action tonight (Wednesday) ((Aug 6th)) in the Ponderosa hill race on the Horseshoe Pass, and tomorrow (Thursday) in the third race in Deestriders' Off-Road Grand Prix.
On Wednesday, August 13, members will be joining Denbigh Harriers in a social run in Denbigh, followed by a meal at the Brookhouse Mill.
