PRESTATYN'S recent revival in the Business Assistance Liverpool Competition Premier Division came to an abrupt end on Saturday as they crashed to a 51-run defeat at struggling Formby.
The 25-7 points setback leaves Morne Williams' side by no means safe from the drop and needing a big performance at home to rock bottom St Helens Recs this weekend.
Put into bat at Cricket Path, Formby racked up 220 for eight declared off 53 overs,
Liam Crilly hitting 71 and Ross Byrom 42 not out as the hosts enjoyed a late surge of runs.
Mario Olivier kept up his fine form with the ball for Prestatyn, taking four for 75 from 17 overs, while Will Owen, on his first appearance of the season on a break from Glamorgan duties, notched three for 40.
The visiting team's response began well with Gareth Boughey and Danny Thomas putting on 50 for the first wicket.
Boughey departed for 30, however, and when Thomas went for 42 and Ali Taylor for 25, it sparked a bit of a collapse. Despite a commendable 19 from 15-year-old wicket keeper Rhys Owen batting at number 10, Prestatyn crashed to 169 all out.
Crilly was again the star turn with six for 73 and paceman John Taylor nabbed three for 81.
nMichael Rushton scored a maiden century as Prestatyn 2nds thrashed St Helens Recs 2nds at Beach Close. Rushton posted 104 and Gareth Friday 80 not out in a stand of 164 for the fifth wicket as Prestatyn set 272 for five off 44 overs, Michael Bona adding 38 and Chris Young 27.
Recs were then dismissed for 147, Rhys Jones three for 35 and Rushton completing a memorable day with two for 19. Points: 25-4.
