SPORTS REVIEW OF 2010 - CRICKET

AUSSIE Trevor Bauer was a player in good form as he cracked 105 for St Asaph in their Premier Division defeat to Chirk.

Bauer was in fine fettle later in the season with a smashing 92 when the Saints edged out Llanrwst, while there was a further Bauer century (129 not out) to celebrate when the Saints beat Pontblyddyn.

There were a number of fine individual St Asaph displays over the course of the season, although an Andrew Bellis hat-trick failed to guide his side to victory over Mold, while Paul Fleming’s intervention was the main reason for the Saints’ narrow six-run win over Chirk.

Fleming picked up a magnificent 7-38 and a week later he was at it again, securing figures of 5-10 in the win over Hawarden Park.

Andrew Bellis (6-19) went one better in the win against Llanrwst, but while there were plenty of highs, there were also lows for the Saints to contend with.

In August they were bowled out for just 50 in the 10-wicket reverse at the hands of defending champions Llandudno.

However, a pleasing first season back in the Premier Division came to a close as the Saints secured their 11th win of the season with victory over Brymbo.
