Injuries and illness meant that only three members of Prestatyn Running Club could make the Penderosa Hill Race at the Horseshoe Pass.

The prolific Des Davies led the trio home in 32nd place overall with a time of 32min 24sec, whilst team-mates Gay Waring and Sian Beck followed just three seconds apart in 98th and 99th respectively, with Gay crossign the line in 40min 41sec.

Former club member Chris Kelly was also in action on the continent, competing in the Iron Man Triathlon in Zurich.

Despite injuring his knee and shoulder in a bike accident during training, he still managed to complete the super triathlon with some respectable times.

The 2.5 mile swim was completed in 1hr 35min, a 110 mile bike ride in 7hr 7min and the marathon in 6hr, with Chris eager to take part in the next Iron Man event.

The club are also holding a social run in Rhewl, near Ruthin, followed by a meal at the Drovers’ Arms on September 1, with members meeting at 6.30pm.
