A NUMBER of runners from Abergele and Rhyl area ran in the Nick Beer 10k race in Llandudno yesterday (February 11).

The annual race took place on the town’s promenade and the Great Orme, attracting runners from across the UK.

It started with a mark of respect for runner and photographer Steve Jeffery, who died at the end of January.

Abergele Harriers runner completes first race in more than a year!

He was one of the founders of Abergele Harriers and help set up North Wales Road Runners Club; the running community gathered for his funeral on February 9 at St Asaph Crematorium.

James Yarwood (Wrexham AAC) of Abergele won the 2023 Nick Beer and was back again this year to defend his title with a tough strong field and perfect conditions.

James achieved second place in a great time of 35:16, just behind winner Simon Cole of Gog Triathlon.

A total of 627 runners took part in the race.
