STRUGGLING Prestatyn slipped back into the Liverpool and District Division One drop zone with a 59-run loss to Orrell Red Triangle.
Gareth Boughey’s side are now second from bottom in the standings in what has been a disappointing season to date, and they will look to remove themselves from the relegation places this Saturday when they take on Highfield, who are just one point ahead of the Beach Close outfit.
Visiting openers Jake Brown (15) and David Naylor (10) were removed in quick succession be Joe Horton and Kieron New after the home side elected to field, but the in-form Petrus Jeftha was on hand to produce another quality innings which proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Jeftha smashed no fewer than 14 boundaries for a score of 100 from 104 balls, before he was eventually clean bowled by New, who added to a number of fine performances with figures of 4-80 from 25 overs.
Sam Heeley ably assisted with a knock of 63, and despite a pair of late wickets from Daniel Williams for the loss of 39 runs the away side declared on 225-8 from 53 overs.
The hosts never got close to reaching their total, with bowler Philip Taberner taking a trio of crucial early wickets in the form of Boughey (18), Joe Horton (8) and Williams (4) to end a devastating spell on 3-27.
Shiel Sethi contributed 12 before he was trapped lbw by Sam Heeley, and the same bowler was on hand to claim the scalp of Sampath Perera, who hit seven boundaries before being sent back to the pavilion on 44.
With Andy Taylor (23) providing the top lower order score, the home side mustered 166 all out from 39 overs of play.
There was further disappointment in the form of Prestatyn Seconds, who suffered a nine wicket defeat at Burscough.
