PRESTATYN Sports marked their first ever Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One fixture with a creditable 3-3 draw at Barmouth and Dyffryn United.

The visitors fell behind on 16 minutes when Paul Lewis finished well following a period of sustained pressure, and things got even worse for John Hargreaves and Mark Hughes’ men soon after when Shane Jones doubled their tally on the 20-minute mark.

Tom McDougall and Robbie Dunn both netted in quick succession to get Sports level at the break, and they took the lead for the first time in the contest after the break when new signing Darren Cassidy’s deflected effort left the keeper with no chance.

United battled hard following the setback and managed to secure a share of the spoils nine minutes from time when Lewis notched his second of the afternoon.

St Asaph City began their new era under Daniel Brewerton with a narrow 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Bodedern Athletic.

An own goal on 62 minutes was enough for the newly promoted side to go home with all three points, with the Saints missing a host of chances late on to deny them a point.

In Division Two, Meliden began the campaign in fine style to record a notable 2-1 success at Llannerchymedd.

Craig Griffiths gave the promotion hopefuls the lead after 55 minutes, with recent arrival from Rhuddlan Town Andy Booker finishing superbly on 80 to increase their cushion.

A nervy ending to proceedings was ensured when Chris Byast reduced the arrears for the home side, but Meliden held firm in the closing stages to start their season on a high.
