LLANGEFNI Town turned in a positive friendly display to draw 4-4 at Huws Gray Alliance outfit Ruthin Town.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopefuls produced a fine display against their second tier counterparts and went two goals up within the opening half hour thanks to well-taken efforts from Craig Roberts and recent signing from Llanrug United Alan Mark Owen.

Chris Williams’ side gradually got themselves back into the contest and pegged back Cefni just before the break when Tom Williams halved the deficit on 43 minutes, and things got even better for the home side after the break when Ryan Thomas levelled matters from the penalty spot after 54.

Home skipper Garmon Hafal gave Ruthin the advantage for the first time in the friendly clash three minutes after the hour mark, and they managed to double their advantage soon after when Jones notched his second of the afternoon on 75.

Credit to the away side, they kept plugging away and found a route back into the game when Owen finished well following a neat passage of play on 80 minutes, and the same player was on hand to seal his hat-trick and secure a share of the spoils after 84 to round off a sensational individual display from the prolific forward.

Manager Chris Roberts, said: “It was a great workout again against a strong Ruthin side of the Cymru Alliance.

“Frustrating to have so many lads missing but pleasing to see the lads available put a shift in and work hard.”
