LLANDUDNO Albion have made a number of impressive signings ahead of their expected Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One championship challenge.

New manager Darren Jones confirmed the signings of Lee Ellis, Peter Jones and Scott Hall ahead of his first season at the helm, and they turned in a highly encouraging performance in their 4-3 home loss to Huws Gray Alliance side Ruthin Town.

Ellis managed to make his first outing for the club with a brace, and the prolific Dave Maddocks also hit the target against Chris Williams’ side, who had Ryan Jones (2), James Watkins and Steff Dolben score to seal their friendly success.

Jones, said: “It was a very good performance against strong opposition with some excellent football played and numerous chances to score more goals.

“The link up through midfield and the movement of the strikers caused problems for the Ruthin defenders all night. The lads are taking on board the way we are trying to play and the new lads have settled in very well.

“There are lots of positives to take from the game to build for the rest of pre-season and into the start of the new campaign.”

Ellis has joined up with squad after a spell at Llandudno Junction last term, with talented forward Jones also set to be a significant addition to the set up having previously starred for JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno.

Rounding off the new acquisitions is powerful defender Hall, who joins the club from third tier rivals Llanrwst United and is another notable addition for the title hopefuls.

“We are hoping to bring in a few more new faces before pre-season is done and further improve what is already a talented, tightly knitted group,” added Jones.
