A YOUTHFUL Prestatyn Town Reserves side turned in an encouraging display before eventually falling to a 3-2 home loss to West Cheshire side Mallaby.

The Seasiders made a very positive start to proceedings and they opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Aaron White powerfully diverted a Sam Herd cross into the net following a prolonged period of pressure.

The visitors had a great chance to get back into the game midway through the half when they were awarded a penalty, but recent signing from Cerrigydrudion Elias Jones pulled off a stunning save and also managed to divert the rebound.

Town almost doubled their advantage just before the break courtesy of a 25-yard thunderbolt from Casey Faulkner that forced a smart save from the away custodian.

After the interval saw the hosts go closer again on 54 minutes when a Lewis Hughes effort from just outside the area rattled the crossbar, but their persistence finally paid off after 62 when Toby Sylvester steered home from close range after Mallaby failed to deal with a routine corner.

The away side responded well to the setback and got themselves back into the contest through a sensational long-range strike from Ben Dufton-Kelly on 66 minutes, and the same player was on hand to level matters on 72 with a sublime volley that gave Jones no chance.

There was still time for more drama which arrived on 86 minutes as Ben Glover evaded the Town defence and pressure from Elliot Evans to slot a secure a memorable fightback for the visitors.
