PRESTATYN Town have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Will Ashley from Ruthin Town.

The highly touted centre-half softens the blow of Reece Fairhurst’s departure to Rhyl after impressing considerably for Chris Williams’ side both in their youth set-up and during their hugely successful return to the Huws Gray Alliance over the last two seasons.

Ashley is no stranger to the Motion Finance Stadium having been part of their thriving academy structured, and he trained with the Seasiders’ new-look squad for the first time last week.

He said: “It’s great to be back at Prestatyn, there’s a lot of familiar faces around.

“I’m really happy to be a part of this rebuild. I’ve had a few conversations with Leon and Ryan, it’s great for a player when they know a manager really wants them to come and play - now it’s up to me to repay the faith they’ve shown in me.”

This is the latest positive step from the new management team of Leon Field and Ryan Turner as they continue to rebuild a squad that has been decimated by the loss of senior figures such as Dave Hayes, Michael Parker and Noah Edwards following their relegation from the JD Welsh Premier League.

The joint-managers are expected to make more signings before the start of the second tier campaign, but the majority of the set-up has now been acquired with a view to stabilising the club ahead of what is set to be a testing few months for the group.
