FORMER Conwy Borough boss Darren Moss is back in football after accepting a position at Holywell Town.

The ex-Wales U21 international joins the Wellmen in an assistant manager position, where he will work with new boss Gareth Sudlow and the coaching team of Dave Sweet and Andy Lewis.

Moss famously guided the Tangerines to a second placed finish in the Huws Gray Alliance before his departure following a poor run of form, and he also worked for SkyBet Championship side Stoke City as a scout.

Sudlow, said: “To get Mossy on board with us is absolutely fantastic work by the club.

“I’ve known Mossy for a number of years from playing for him when we were at Conwy and I know what he can offer. He is a brilliant coach and an infectious character which will help us even more going forward.

“He has worked with a number of the squad beforehand and so he will slot straight in. Since taking over the managerial role I have been looking to add an assistant to help Myself, Andy and Sweety out and once I found out Mossy was available we had to get him on board so I’m delighted now the backroom staff is complete and we all can’t wait to get going in preseason.”

Moss enjoyed a fine playing career that saw him turn out for the likes of Chester and Shrewsbury Town, where he helped get them back into the Football League at the first time of asking, and scored the winning penalty in their playoff clash against Barnet.

A £170,000 move to Crewe Alexandra then followed, before finishing off his career with Morecombe, Bangor City and Nantwich Town.
