RHYL have made a significant addition to their management team with the appointment of Gareth Wilson.

The former Prestatyn Town boss arrives at the Huws Gray Alliance side as first team manager, and will be working under director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones ahead of a predicted title tilt next term.

Wilson is no stranger to the Lilywhites, making 221 appearances as a player before joining The New Saints of Oswestry Town in 2001.

He was part of the dominant Lilies’ squad that achieve a historic quadruple, and also won the Welsh Cup during his time with the Seasiders.

Maurice-Jones, said: “The appointment of Gareth to an already impressive and valued management team is a strong statement of intent.

“The new additions brings a wealth of experience and a set of skills that will only strengthen the team. Gareth’s desire and worth ethic is a matching fit for our vision for Rhyl Football Club’s future. It has been refreshing discussing our plans and our philosophies which meets the aspirations of all involved and I personally look forward to working with Gareth.

“His connection with the club speaks volumes and I’m confident he will be welcomed greatly to the club for what we assure will be a success.”

Wilson further strengthens an impressive management team that features Dave Norman, Daniel Reese and Richard Williams-Cooke, and they have also made a wealth of changes to the playing personnel as the club looks to improve its fortunes following a disappointing sixth-placed finish last season.

The new management team are finalising the squad ahead of the start of pre-season, with more signings set to be announced in the coming days.

“Bringing Gareth back to Rhyl is the final piece of the jigsaw,” added Norman.

“Gareth’s knowledge and experience of both the Huws Gray Alliance and Welsh Premier will only strengthen and add quality to the team already in place.

“Both myself and Eddie are immensely proud of the management team and group of players we are assembling here at Rhyl. When Eddie, Rich myself sat down with Gareth and discussed our intentions we all knew that not only have we secured an exceptional coach, but one who’s knowledge and experience will help get the club back to the top tier.”
