PRESTATYN Town joint-manager Leon Field has outlined his ambitions after taking over from Gareth Wilson this week.

The former Kinmel Bay boss and Ryan Turner form the new management team for the Huws Gray Alliance side after a summer of turmoil so far, and Field said it was an opportunity they could not turn down once speaking to former manager Neil Gibson and the Town board.

Field, said: “Once the opportunity came along and was offered then was an easy decision to make.

“It is another challenge similar to the one we had at Kinmel Bay and it is going to be tough, but Ryan and I assessed the situation and thought we could make the necessary changes to get the club back to where it belongs.

“After speaking to Gibbo (Gibson) it is clear that the club has lost its way a little bit, so we want to bring the glory days back and it is great that the board have been very receptive.

“Obviously there has been big changes to the playing squad but we are already working hard in bringing in the right sort of quality to compete.”

The backroom staff have moved quickly in terms of recruitment and announcements of new signings will be announced within the next 48 hours, while the likes of defender Reece Fairhurst have been offered new deals in the hope of avoiding any further departures.

Field stated he would be looking to his former club for some signings and is confident any Bay arrivals can make the necessary step up and establish themselves in the second tier.

“Most of the Kinmel Bay squad have already played in the Welsh Alliance and some will be looking to step up, so that is something we are looking into at the moment,” he added.

“All of our targets have experience playing in the Cymru Alliance, and we are also looking to bring through players from the youth system and reserves to add something different to the squad.

“We are also in talks with members of last season’s squad that are still here and we are hoping they will stay on and help our cause.”

The new appointment was quick to thank everyone at his old club after guiding them to a title and enhancing their reputation within the community since they reformed last year.

He is also urging his Seasiders’ squad to “have fun” as they embark on pre-season and league fixtures, and Field is aiming for a top half finish to stabilise the club.

“I think it is basically about discipline, we cannot afford to have any passengers in this league and that may not have been the case last season in the Clwyd League,” added Field.

“We also want the players to have fun and enjoy their football, which is something that really made a difference last season and we want that to continue.

“I would like to thank everyone at Kinmel Bay for making us feel so welcome, we had a fabulous time there and I wish everyone there the very best of luck in the future.”
