RHYL’s managing director Mike Jones has been appointed to the Huws Gray Alliance management committee.

The popular figure was given the honour at the league’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 9, and he will now be part of the decision-making team in the second tier for the coming season and possibly beyond.

Jones, who previously held the role of general manager before his promotion in 2013, has been one of the most influential figures for the Lilywhites for a number of years and has overseen the day-to-day running of club matters under the guidance of chairman Paul Higginson.

He recently pulled off a huge coup with the appointment of Dave Norman, Eddie Maurice-Jones and Richard Williams-Cooke as their new management team, who will look to improve the club’s fortunes as they continue to seek a return to the JD Welsh Premier League following their relegation in 2017.

In addition to first team squad matters, Jones has played a significant role in the development of the Lilies’ thriving academy system, while also progressing their work within the community thanks to a work experience programme with the University of Chester and their Football in the Community scheme.

This has also included collections for the town’s food bank in recent months, in addition to arranging lucrative sponsorship deals and securing other forms of investment to help with the overall development of the ambitious club.
