RHYL have made another eye-catching addition to their squad with the signing of Dave McIntyre from Gresford Athletic.

The cultured midfielder, who can also operate as a centre half, links up once again with director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones and assistant Richard Williams-Cooke, who he played under at Athletic and Denbigh Town respectively.

The 28-year-old, said: “I joined because I was looking for a new challenge after two great years at Gresford. I see a club the size of Rhyl as a great move for me.

“Also personally to get to play for Eddie and Rich again was something I felt I couldn’t pass up.”

McIntyre played a huge part in Denbigh’s unbeaten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title winning campaign during a three-year spell at the club, and he has also turned out for Cefn Druids, Rhos Aelwyd, Ruthin Town, Castell Alyn Colts and Gretna during a standout career to date.

Maurice-Jones, said: “Dave is a brilliant addition to the squad who will bring experience and quality.

“He suffered with an injury towards the end of the season but is hungry to get back playing. Dave can operate in many roles and is focused on delivering for Rhyl.”

The Lilywhites received a further boost with the news that talented left-back Tom Hartley has signed an extension for the coming season, which will be his third at the Belle Vue Stadium.

He made 33 starting appearances during the 16/17 campaign in the JD Welsh Premier League, winning the Management Committee Player of the Season award.

Injury delayed his start within the squad last term, but Hartley impressed considerably during his 15 appearances and is another valuable asset to have as the Lilies go in search of the title.

The club also confirmed that Sam Downey, Tony Davies, Mark Connolly and Phil Marsh have officially departed.
