RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones has made two further signings as he continues his squad overhaul.

The Lilywhites confirmed the significant signing of Gresford Athletic skipper Max Peate, while goalkeeper and Prestatyn Town legend Jonathan Hill-Dunt arrives at the Belle Vue Stadium from Denbigh Town.

Standout defender Peate is no stranger to the new Lilies’ management team, having worked with Maurice-Jones at the Clappers and was also part of Richard Williams-Cooke’s unbeaten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One championship winning side at Denbigh.

He turned down a host of offers to remain with Athletic last season, where he made 32 appearances and scored five goals.

Maurice-Jones, said: “Having previously worked with Max I know he’s a passionate, committed player.

“Max is a very experienced defender who will add leadership to the squad. He is a natural winner which will help us build a winning mentality around the squad.”

Hill-Dunt, who turned out for the Lilies’ reserves as a 16-year-old, also follows the management duo from Central Park and is expected to lend support and provide cover for the talented Rory Crowther throughout the campaign.

He is a Welsh Cup winner for the Seasiders and made 133 first team appearances under Neil Gibson, while also turning out in the Europa League during the most glittering time in the club’s history.

“The opportunity to work with Eddie again was one that I couldn’t turn down. Rhyl’s a massive club and hopefully I can be a part of getting us back into the Welsh Premier.

“I played my first game in men’s football for Rhyl reserves when I was 16, it’s come full circle to hopefully finish off my playing days over the next few years here.”

Maurice-Jones, added: “Jon is the whole package when it comes to looking for qualities in a player.

“His vast experience will only benefit our younger players and I’m confident Jon will support Rory and offer him all the help he needs to materialise into a top keeper.

“Jon is looked up to and has a great knowledge for the game. I have the upmost respect for him as a player and a person and I’m confident he’ll be a fan favourite.”
