RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones has turned to his former club with three significant signings.

The Lilywhites confirmed that Kristian Pierce, Gareth Partridge and Matthew Cook have all signed from Huws Gray Alliance rivals Denbigh Town as the management team continue to overhaul their squad in the pursuit of promotion next term.

Pierce is no stranger to the Lilies’ faithful having played for the club under Niall McGuinness during the 2016/17 season in the JD Welsh Premier League, where he made 29 appearances and scored four goals.

He said: “Rhyl is a massive club and it’s a great opportunity for me to play for them again.

“Last time around I was hit with injuries and played out of position when I was fit. So this time I intend to have a good pre-season so I can hit the ground running once we start. I feel I have a point to prove at Rhyl.

“I want to play a key role in taking this massive club back to where it belongs which is the Welsh Premier League."

Partridge is a former Welsh U17 international who was on Shrewsbury Town’s books as a youngster, while ex-Wales U19 star Cook boasts more than 200 appearances at WPL level with the likes of Cefn Druids, Airbus Broughton and Newtown.

Maurice-Jones, added: “Matt was a key player in my success at Denbigh Town so to bring him to Rhyl was a must. His dedication and experience to organise and compose the team is vital for all game situations.

“Once Gareth joined me from Cefn Druids just under two years ago he’s given me nothing less than hard work, commitment and dedication.

“He’s developed so much in a short space of time and that supports his determination to succeed. Gareth is an energetic midfielder with a fantastic passing range, who is adding goals to his qualities.”

The new management team are expected to announce more signings in the coming days, in addition to retaining some key squad members from last season.
