FORMER Rhyl boss Matthew Jones has been officially confirmed as joint-manager at Huws Gray Alliance rivals Denbigh Town.

After The Journal initially reported the news earlier this week, Jones and Dewi Llion were announced as the new management team by the second tier runners-up on Thursday, May 31.

Jones left his position at the Corbett Sports Stadium last month after taking over from Mark Connolly, and the Lilywhites decided to go in a different direction following their lowest league finish since re-entering the Welsh pyramid system.

He has strong links with the club having managed their reserve team before taking up a position at the helm of Llandudno Junction, and Jones is currently working towards his UEFA A Licence qualification alongside Llion.

Joining the duo at Central Park is Pete Lloyd, who has agreed to return in an assistant manager role after spells with Llandyrnog United and Oswestry Town.

Both Jones and Llion have worked together previously at Bala Town U19s during their fledgling coaching careers to date.

Jones, said: “I am delighted to have re-joined Denbigh Town as joint manager with Dewi.

“Having known Dewi for a number of years, I am now really excited by the chance to work alongside him to develop this football club.

“We have our ideas and plans on the direction we would like to go and are very ambitious and want to kick in after the incredible season the club had last term. I am now looking forward to getting started."
