A STUNNING century from overseas star Nathanael Scott guided St Asaph to an impressive nine-wicket victory at Chirk.

Will Ryan’s men now seem to have hit their stride and produced their finest display of the campaign to date against the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division rivals, and they will look to continue their positive momentum during their Bank Holiday Monday clash against newly promoted Pwllheli at Elwy Grove Park.

The away side made a fine start to their time in the field when Duncan Midgley clean bowled opener Chris Pritchard for a duck, while Jason Foulkes trapped Stevie Kelshaw lbw for the same score immediately after.

Nicholas Flack (24) and Gareth Partridge (30) steadied the ship until they were both removed by Andrew Bellis, who ended the day with figures of 2-42, and Richard Marsh-Evans got in on the act with the prized wicket of Wynn Jones for one.

Home skipper Andrew Swarbrick then got his side back into contention with a superb half century, but he was skittled by Paul Fleming on 57 during a crucial stage of the innings.

The same bowler also disposed of wicketkeeper James Carter for 13, with Foulkes and Midgley also taking another wicket apiece during the lower order as the hosts ended their allotted 50 overs on 186-9.

Despite losing Midgley for a duck when he was trapped lbw by Flack, the sensational partnership between Scott and Ryan ensured there were no further dismissals and ensure the away side reached their required total with minimal fuss.

The Saints captain was in fantastic form once again to hit an unbeaten 63, while Scott performed even better to finish with a brilliant 108 not out from 130 deliveries to give them another victory after 41 overs at the crease.
