RHYL sporting director Dave Norman has outlined his ambitions after finally being confirmed in the role.

The Lilywhites formally announced their new backroom staff on Friday, May 25, with Norman linking up once again with Eddie Maurice-Jones following a successful spell together at Gresford Athletic.

The former education and football development officer at Arsenal enjoyed a sensational playing career spanning more than a decade in the JD Welsh Premier League and English system, where he won the National Conference and FA Trophy with Macclesfield Town.

He also spent seven years as director of football at Wingate and Finchley, leading them to Ryman Premier League before returning to North Wales with Athletic where Norman and Maurice-Jones masterminded their rise to prominence in the Huws Gray Alliance.

Norman’s career has now come full-circle after initially starting his career at the Corbett Sports Stadium, and he is keen to continue the club’s ethos as they look to mount a title challenge next term.

He said: “Returning to the club were I started my senior football career means a lot to me personally. My family are from Rhyl and I know what a special club this is. I have many memories of success here at the club which we are all determined to bring back.

“We have secured, in Eddie Maurice-Jones one of the best up and coming names in North Wales football and a coaching team that would rival any club in Wales.”

“We are clear in our objectives; to create a winning mentality which is underpinned by hard-work, and a desire to wear the Rhyl badge, thus creating a style of football that is ‘the Rhyl Way’.”

Chairman Paul Higginson, added: “The range of experience, capability and character of each of the members of the new football management team makes it clear that we are absolutely committed to building Rhyl FC into a formidable club capable of returning to the top tier of Welsh football and capable of winning top honours.

“The team appointed have worked together previously and the club believes that this will ensure the heart of the team retains a local feel which the supporters can identify with, but with a management team that has the ability to attract the best quality players within North Wales and North West areas and further afield when required. Rhyl FC’s aspirations are to be the best and we continue to build for the future.”
