RHYL finally confirmed the appointment of a new management team ahead of the new Huws Gray Alliance season.

The Lilywhites confirmed the arrival of Eddie Maurice-Jones, together with Richard Williams-Cooke and David Reese to the backroom staff, which The Journal first reported last week.

Maurice-Jones, who has been given the official title of director of football, guided Denbigh Town to the highest league finish in their history when they came runners-up to Caernarfon Town after a memorable campaign.

The talented young manager will link up once again with Dave Norman, who is also part of the Lilies’ shake-up, with the pair working together previously at Gresford Athletic.

Williams-Cooke also brings with him a wealth of experience and was manager at the Central Park side when they achieved an unbeaten double-winning Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One season that laid solid foundations from which to build before resigning due to work and family commitments.

The ex-JD Welsh Premier League star had a glittering playing career at the likes of Bala Town, Cefn Druids and Newtown before moving to the dugout, while Reese was also a key member of the coaching staff at both Gresford and Denbigh under the new boss.

Maurice-Jones, said: “I feel very privileged to be part of a club with such a great history. I am determined to be a success and understand what the club means to everyone.

“We will work hard to reward the supporters and I am confident we will bring excitement and results to the club and I look forward to starting and fulfilling expectations.”

The Journal understands that the new management team are currently in negotiations with a number of players ahead of what is expected to be a complete squad overhaul, with the futures of Town stars now seriously in doubt due to their fierce commitment towards Maurice-Jones and Williams-Cooke.

Managing director Mike Jones, added: “The forthcoming campaign in the Huws Gray Alliance is going to be one of the most exciting in the League’s history. The addition of Bangor City and Prestatyn Town to the ranks has got many supporters across North Wales talking.

“The managerial team that has been established for next season has the level of experience of leading successful teams and winning championships. The members of the team have all worked together before and this should enable them to hit the ground running.”
