PRESTATYN Town have been dealt a further blow with the news that club talisman Michael Parker has joined Connah’s Quay.

The Journal understands that Parker will link up with former manager Neil Gibson at The Nomads, after agreeing terms this week, and he is the latest high-profile departure for the recently relegated side.

Parker has been at the heartbeat of the club for more than a decade and was part of some of the best moments in the club’s history, including a JD Welsh Cup victory and a money-spinning European appearance.

The playmaker has shown tremendous loyalty to Town over the years and decided to remain at the Motion Finance Stadium following their first relegation despite fierce interest from Bala Town, and he was a huge contributing factor in their Huws Gray Alliance title winning campaign.

He also rallied the squad during Town’s troubles with the HMRC that threatened their existence, with Parker leading the player contributions that involved donating their wages to the overall cause.

The loss is another significant blow to Gareth Wilson as he looks to maintain stability to a squad that has already lost the services of Damian Ketley, Zebb Edwards, Zyaac Edwards and the retired Dave Hayes.

Forward Noah Edwards is also reported to have left the club to join Andy Morrison’s men, who have now emerged as the main challenger to The New Saints of Oswestry Town following Bangor City’s relegation to the second tier following their FAW Domestic Licence appeal rejection.

Parker has become a huge part of the club both on-and-off the pitch, but few would argue that he has not earned the right to leave the Seasiders on his own terms.
