PRESTATYN Sports took another huge step to the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title with a resounding 5-0 home win over Aberffraw.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side are tackling their brutal run-in superbly well in their pursuit of promotion, and they extended their unbeaten run to leave them just two points behind leaders Glan Conwy with four games in hand.

The home side got off to a good start and went ahead on 24 minutes when the prolific Ian Griffiths found the net to continue his impressive form in-front of goal, and they managed to double their tally after the break through Kris Owen on 57.

This opened the floodgates late on, with Tom McDougall sealing the points on 82 minutes following another period of pressure, and Griffiths finished well on 86 to make it 11 goals from his last four contests.

There was still time to put an exclamation point on proceedings for the championship favourites, with James Harper completing the rout two minutes from time.

St Asaph City are now just three points above the Division One drop zone after a 3-1 loss at Penrhyndeudraeth.

The Saints managed to get their noses in-front during the first half courtesy of a Luke Windass penalty on 33 minutes, but they were undone by a much-improved performance from the home side after the break, which resulted in Steven Jones (2) and Meillir Williams condemning them to defeat.

Meliden’s hopes of securing Take Stock Van Hire Cup glory are over after a heavy 4-1 home defeat to Mochdre Sports.

Prolific forward Jordan Phillips was in ruthless form throughout and fired a hat-trick to lead the away side to success, with George Zabo firing the hosts’ consolation on 80 minutes.
