PRESTATYN Town face a make-or-break clash in their bid for JD Welsh Premier League safety when they host Carmarthen Town on Saturday (2.30pm).
The bottom two top flight sides collide at the Motion Finance Stadium, with the loser all-but condemned to life in the second-tier next term.
Gareth Wilson’s side have turned in some encouraging performances of late, and they can take plenty of heart from their recent 2-2 draw at Llandudno last time out which saw them dominate the one-time Europa League qualifiers for the majority of the contest.
They are currently bottom in the standings and 13 points behind Aberystwyth Town with a game in hand, but they can avoid no further slip-ups if they are to avoid an instant return to the Huws Gray Alliance.
The Seasiders know that they have to win the majority of their eight remaining games and hope other results fall in their favour, but the Old Gold have shown some life since the turn of the year despite the departure of manager Mark Aizlewood after he was jailed for his role in a multi-million-pound fraud scheme.
Skipper Dave Hayes has been at the top of his game since the start of Phase Two, and new arrival from Guilsfield Louis Irvine has shown signs of genuine quality that will stand them in good stead going forward.
Following Saturday’s clash, Wilson’s men face Europa League playoff favourites Barry Town United in back-to-back weeks home and away, before closing out their season with games against Aberystwyth Town, Newtown and Llandudno.
