LLANDUDNO Junction suffered another blow to their fading Huws Gray Alliance survival hopes with a 4-0 home reverse to Guilsfield.

The Railwaymen were left rueing a disastrous start which they could not recover from, and Chris Morrell’s side will look for an elusive first league win of the season this Saturday when they host Ruthin Town (2pm).

The visitors wasted no time in stamping their authority on proceedings, and they took the lead within the first minute when Jake Cook took advantage of some hesitant defending to fire home.

Things went from bad-to-worse soon after when Cook produced another moment of quality to double their advantage on four minutes thanks to another impressive attacking move.

Credit to the hosts, they managed to regroup following the setback and restricted the title hopefuls to limited opportunities during the remainder of the first half, while also providing some threat on the counter.

After the interval saw the away side wrap up the points on 83 minutes when Andy Ford found the target, and there was still time for the Guils’ to rub salt into the would courtesy of a Jack Harris strike on 88.

Morrell, said: “Guilsfield are a really top outfit and still genuine challenges at the top which shows how difficult it was.

“There may likely be a few new faces coming in over the next week or so and hopefully this will increase our squad competition, but while we had several young players involved and we've every confidence in youth.

“All we can ask is every player works harder than any opposition with and without the ball.”
