RHYL Youth advanced to the Premier Cup third round thanks to a resounding 6-1 thumping of derby rivals Rhyl Rovers.

Dan Price opened the scoring for the hosts on 14 minutes, only for Aaron Elliot to level matters for Rovers on 16.

It was one-way traffic throughout the remainder of the contest, with Sion Jones and an Alan Russell brace giving the hosts a commanding lead at the interval.

The young Lilywhites wrapped things up with Jones’ second of the contest on 85 minutes, and Sam Jones put the exclamation point on proceedings a minute from time.

Machno United left it late to secure a 4-3 triumph over Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Premier Division strugglers Abergele.

A brace from Rhydian Williams did the majority of the damage, with a Damien Eyre effort on 87 minutes enough to separate the two sides.

Llandudno Athletic remain at the Division One summit after a convincing 6-0 thrashing of Rhos United.

Ben Seager netted twice in the first half to put them in the ascendancy, while Jack Williams and Danny Talbot also helped themselves to braces to complete the rout.

Hot on their heels remain Llandudno Amateurs after efforts from Ryan Thomas and Gareth Sharp gave them a narrow 2-1 home success over Denbigh Development, with just one point separating the title challengers in the standings.

An early Andy Booker strike looked to have sealed three points for Rhuddlan Town at Llandyrnog United Reserves, but a Paul Williams finish on 65 minutes gave both a share of the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate.

In the only other fixture to survive the elements, goals from Callum Parry (2), Jamie Turner and Owen Booth gave Betws-y-Coed a 4-1 REM Jones Cup victory at Llanrwst United Reserves.
