PRESTATYN are in for a big weekend of cricket as they bid to continue their fight on two fronts.

David Harris’ side will welcome Division One rivals Liverpool to Beach Close on Saturday, before heading to New Brighton on Saturday for their crunch ECB Club T20 quarter final.

They will approach this weekend in buoyant mood, after they ran out four-wicket winners over Sefton Park to see themselves up to sixth place in the table.

Harris said: “It was nice to get back into winning ways after a couple of dodgy weeks.

“We’re just trying to compete and hold our own really. We’ve got a young side but a good side.

I think we are holding our own but we just need to be a bit more consistent. If we can get back-to-back wins again, it just brings a bit of confidence.

“It’s a big weekend, this weekend.”

Sampath Perera, Kieron New, Danny Williams and Rhys Jones all returned to action last weekend after missing the defeat at Fleetwood Hesketh the previous weekend - and they all played their part in this win.

Perera (4-31) and New (3-67) were the visitors’ main tormentors as they managed 165 before being bowled out in 52.2 overs.

James Baird (76) was the Sefton Park mainstay with the bat, while Danny Davies (2-23) and Ben Wistow-Hughes (1-11) swept away the remaining wickets for Prestatyn.

After Ryan Westwell’s (8) early dismissal, Harris and Williams formed a steady partnership before the captain was dismissed for a handy 32.

Three home wickets fell in quick succession to give the visitors hope, but that proved short-lived as Jones, returning after the recent birth of his son, showed some timely resistance.

His 50-ball knock of 46, which featured seven fours, came at a critical time, leaving Williams (56 no) and John Hughes (1 no) to take Prestatyn to victory in 47.2 overs.

Prestatyn seconds succumbed to an eight-wicket loss as Northop Hall, despite a defiant half-century from skipper Nathan Jones, while the third team played out a draw with Widnes.

The seconds travel to Parkfield Liscard seconds this weekend, while the thirds face a trip to Old Xaverians.
