PRESTATYN skipper David Harris is relieved to be welcoming a key quartet back to the fold at home to Liverpool and District Division One opponents Sefton Park on Saturday.

With four key players ruled out, the captain paid tribute to the younger players who stepped up from the second and third teams to feature in last weekend’s 86-run defeat at Fleetwood Hesketh.

Sampath Perera was ruled out with tonsillitis, Kieron New and Danny Williams were both off on their holidays, while Rhys Jones was at side of his partner, who gave birth to a baby boy on Friday evening.

Harris said: “We went there knowing that the likelihood of getting a result was not as high, but we were in the hunt and if we’d have had a few more batsmen, we might have actually chased it down.

“Hopefully we can make home advantage count and hopefully Sampy (Perera) and Kieran (New) can shine with the ball.”

Fleetwood declared on a competitive 234-8 total last weekend, thanks to a great 94 knock from Neil Rimmer; Danny Davies (6-70) starred with the ball, while Ben Wistow-Hughes and Gareth Boughey both claimed wickets.

A solid batting effort, led by Gareth Leonard (29), Danny Davies and Nathan Jones (23), saw the visitors put up a fight, but Prestatyn were one big innings short of truly challenging the hosts. After 51.3 overs, they were eventually skittled for 148.

Prestatyn seconds fell to a 137-run loss at home to Alder after being bowled for 79, while chasing 217 for victory.
