Despite returning from the Vale on Saturday with three points after scoring four tries in a hard-fought draw, Rhyl will be bitterly disappointed that conceding 15 points in the first ten minutes.
Llan's big pack drove over for two close-range tries on the heavy pitch and a long afternoon afternoon looked likely for the young Dragons team.
However, Rhyl started to settle and show their character. After a good passage of play, captain Dale Blackmore crossed after a lovely cross field kick from Callum Bennet. A further Bennet penalty meant a half-time score of 15 points to 8.
The second period was a more even affair and an excellent solo try from wing Nick Wolstenholme pulled Rhyl closer only for Llan to reply immediately.
Despite tries for Jack Hughes and Callum Bennet, Rhyl couldn't find a winning score and it was the home side, who missed a penalty with the last kick of the game.
The Dragons are at home to Machhynlleth next week and Coach Phil Blakoe will be looking for a brighter start and less of the needless penalties that have cost them so dear this season.

Mike Potter’s makeshift side travelled along the coast and returned with nothing to show for their efforts as they tumbled to a six-try defeat. Llandudno held the upper hand in the scrum although Rhyl shone in the lineout. The home side’s backs took a long time to get to grips with the idea of using the ball on the overlap but when they did in the second half they were able to use possession to good effect to put themselves out of sight.
This week Rhyl travel to Wrexham for a league match.
