RHYL’S Under 13s picked up their first win of the season with a dramatic victory over Mold.
In their first move Tomos Williams 70m run was finished off by Joe Bancroft.
Mold came back strongly but another score from Williams made it all level at 10-10 and with 30 seconds left Max Drinkwater scored Rhyl’s winner.
The Under 7s also took on Mold in a double-header, losing the first 7-5 despite scores from Dylan Cook, Roman Hodgson, Airan Semple,
Joseph Roberts, and a Jack Walsh trio, but winning the second 15-10, with hat-tricks from Owain Elspley, Dlyan Cook and Joseph Roberts, as well as touch-downs from Roman Hodgson and Finley Mills.
Another pair of victories came via the Under 8s, who bagged two 6-4 wins.
After going three tries down in the first, Rhyl responded with scores from Charlie Roberts, Rhys Hughes and Paddy Nelson, before second half tries from Shaun Roberts, Rowan Pritchard and Luke Jones sealed the win.

The Under 9s returned from their Christmas break with a hard-fought draws with Mold.
Tomos Harrison and Tobias Millar scored tries in both games and Connor McKenna added another in the second game, with Callum Gardner taking the man of the match award.
Rhyl’s Under 10s were less fortunate in their match, going down 27-12 in an under-par performance.
After going five tries down in the first half, Rhyl regained their composure briefly in the second half to score two of their own from Liam Roberts and Osian Bradshaw-Evans, with one converted.
The Under 14s also tasted defeat, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 60-12 hiding. The local try scorers for the second week running were Sam Wainwright and Jed Dilworth, with Harrison Cunnah kicking a conversion.
