WALKERS will set off on a six-mile hike that begins with little light to raise money for a hospice.

St Kentigern in St Asaph will hold its annual dawn walk on Saturday, July 7, starting at 5am.

The walk will start and finish at St Asaph Cathedral.

The event is now in its seventh year. More than £100,000 has been raised for hospice care in the last six years.

St Kentigern fundraising manager Laura Parry said: “Events such as the dawn walk are invaluable to the patients and families using services at the Hospice.

“They are vitally important. Events like these make up 80 per cent of our funding.

“Last year we had more than 200 people. Elements of the route are scenic – the half-way point we end up in Rhuddlan Nature Reserve and we go through some green areas.

“Once walkers complete the trek, bacon butties – as well as vegetarian options – and a hot cup of tea or coffee will be waiting for fundraisers in the cathedral.

“Entry is open to those over the ages of 10 and dogs on leads are welcome."

Cost £10 or £25 if sponsorship is not collected.

Entry forms are available from St Kentigern Hospice’s fundraising office which is now located on Mount Road, St Asaph. Call 01745 536022 or visit www.stkentigernhospice.org.uk
