CPD Y Rhyl 1879 followed up their midweek upset at the hands of Flint Mountain with a resounding 4-0 triumph at home to newly promoted Pwllheli.

The hosts’ early pressure paid off after just six minutes; a great move down the right by the Jones brothers, Alex and James, saw James cross the ball over the defence.

Keiran Ellis rose to head the ball back across goal, past Pwllheli keeper Morgan Jones and into the back of the net.

And the goals kept coming after the break; the first on 50 minutes saw James Jones find Adam Hold with a stunning ball from defence.

Hold broke the defensive line and was through on goal, with the ball in his stride he fired across the net, and though the Pwllheli goalkeeper got a hand to it, it wasn’t enough to stop Rhyl from doubling their lead.

A couple of minutes later, Mark Roberts got Rhyl’s third goal; a great bit of skill by Macauley Taylor out on the right gave him room to send a delightful ball onto the head of Roberts, who headed the ball into the top-left corner from close range.

Then, before the hour mark, Roberts was there to put the game beyond the visitors.

This time, Aaron White provided the assist, after he won the ball on the edge of the Pwllheli box, before passing several players and cutting the ball back to Roberts.

Roberts had to react quickly with the ball, but placed it neatly into the bottom-left corner, out of reach of the Pwllheli keeper.

The Lilywhites are back in action on Tuesday (August 15), away at Llannefydd, with an early kick-off at 6.30pm.
