A Rhos-on-Sea man has enlisted an award winning comedian and will run a marathon commemorate his mother-in-law.

Before competing in the London Marathon, Andy Thomas has enlisted the aid of the 2018 UK Pun Championship winner Rob Thomas for a night of comedy for the 10th anniversary of Pauline Renshaw’s death to raise money for St Kentigern’s Hospice.

Mr Thomas said: “My mother-in-law spent some time at St Kentigern's before passing away, she was looked after wonderfully by the staff and volunteers at the so to mark the anniversary of her passing I am raising money for the hospice.

Andy’s Comedy Night will be headed up by Rob Thomas, who will be joined by one-liner comedian Stephen Cookson and BBC Radio 4 New Comedy Award Show Mark Williams.

The evening will also feature a competition for the best joke, with prizes for the winner.

Later this year, Mr Thomas will continue to raise funds for the hospice by running the London Marathon.

Mr Thomas said: “A year and a half ago, I was 20 stone and hadn’t exercised properly for years.

“Thanks to Conwy Park Run I am now under 17 stone and have covered over 150 miles in the past 8 weeks and will run a further 200 before the big day."

Andy's Comedy Night takes place on Saturday March 17th at 7:30pm at the North Coast Church in Towyn. Tickets are £10, with all proceeds going to St Kentigern's.
