Scores of Rhyl revellers braved the freezing waters to take part in the New Year's Eve dip.

The dippers - most of them in fancy dress - raced into the sea to race funds for charity.

The dip, which usually takes place on Boxing Day, was switched to New Year's Eve because of tide times.

Many of the fundraisers were contributing to the Rhyl Lifeboat Station Shannon Appeal which means that every penny they raised will go towards the new boat, which is expected to be in service at Rhyl in late 2019.

A number of groups from the Rhyl area took part including those from the Cob & Pen who, in keeping with the conditions, were dressed as penquins for the day.
