A TOWN's cenotaph is to undergo restoration ahead of a significant anniversary - the centenary of the end of the First World War.

The memorial, which is located outside Rhuddlan Community Centre, will be removed in March for maintenance including letter painting of faded names.

November 2018 marks the 100 years of remembrance and commemoration of the end of the war and the many millions who were killed or came home wounded.

Cllr Andy Smith, mayor of Rhuddlan, said: "It is important that the cenotaph is in pristine condition.

"There was a fantastic turnout at last year’s Remembrance Sunday. All ages turned out in the wind and rain to pay their respects which was very humbling. I’ve no doubt that many will turn out again for the 100 years of remembrance."

The work is expected to take four weeks to complete.
