SUPERFANS of Aldi's Kevin the carrot and girlfriend Katie have been making sure that their plush toys stand out above the rest this Christmas.

Fans across Denbighshire have been going mad for the cute carrots, who have warmed the hearts of audiences as the stars of Aldi's Christmas advert.

Parents had to be quick off the mark to obtain the cuddly toys - Sue Davies, of Rhyl, queued up in order to bag them for her grandchildren whilst Rachel Smith, of Rhyl, Rachel Smith headed down to the Rhyl store at 7.30am so she could get the whole family; Kevin and Katie have already laid down some roots and have had some baby carrots.

The carrot family is now a family of five.

Sue said: "The grandchildren were very excited and they take them to bed every night."

Rachel added: "We were so happy to get them, our carrot family is complete."

Dawn Walsh, deputy manager for Aldi in Rhyl, has made sure that her carrots really 'sparkle' this Christmas.

Photos shared with the Journal show Kevin dressed as a elf and Katie in a knitted attire. The family of five are pictured next to a little, glowing Christmas tree.

The force is also with Dawn's carrots. In another photo, Kevin is pictured in a galaxy galaxy far far away, complete with a lightsaber, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader action figure.

Dawn said: "We got Kevin last year from Aldi Rhyl. We have got lots of pics from him doing his Christmas build up to Christmas.

"I got Katie and the kids this year also from Rhyl store."

Kevin and Katie carrots have sold out in supermarkets across the UK and online, they sold out within hours of going on sale.

On Ebay, prior to going to press, a Kevin the carrot and Katie was being auctioned for £300. Another lot, featuring Kevin, Katie and children were being auctioned for £150.
