MORE than 50 pets and their owners did their best to win over the judge during a contest which celebrates crossbreed dogs.
Scruffts, a competition that gives crossbreed dogs the opportunity to compete in the main arena at Crufts, came to the Pedwar Pawen show at Prestatyn Market Ground earlier this month.
Worthy winners of the heat will now go on to the semi-finals, which are held at the Excel in London on October 20 and 21 and supported by pet food makers James Wellbeloved.
From there, six lucky crossbreed dogs will qualify for Crufts 2019.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club secretary, said: "The Pedwar Powen Scruffts heat was very successful. As it was a very hot bank holiday weekend, we made sure that there was plenty of water and shade around for both the dogs and owners, which encouraged an excellent turn out.
"Patricia Gaffey was the judge who has been involved in the dog world for over 20 years.
"Although it was a difficult decision for her, she picked very worthy winners - everyone who entered clearly had a very strong bond with their dog."
