A CRAFTY group of artisans have been selected as finalists in the Voluntary Arts Epic awards.

The awards shine a spotlight on the achievements of voluntary arts groups across the UK.

Artisans Collective CIC in Prestatyn has been named a finalist along with one of their community art groups - Aimee’s Friday art. A total of 32 creative projects have made the shortlist.

Peter Harrison, director at Artisans Collective which is based in old library, said: "To be one of the selected 32 finalists is great. To also be nominated alongside a group we facilitate every Friday is out of this world.

"I feel extremely proud that all of our hard voluntary work is being recognised nationally from our junior art group, Mens Shed, bereavement group and our dementia activities.

"I have been buzzing since we found out. It really brightened things up throughout the snow."

The groups on the shortlist will now go forward to the national judging panels for the chance to win prizes. They will also get the chance to pick their favourite entry - other than themselves- to win the Peer Award for Excellence.

Public voting closes at 5pm on Wednesday, April 11. Visit www.voluntaryarts.org/epic-awards-peoples-choice-voting
