RESIDENTS in Prestatyn have been warned they may see issues with their Freeview televisions after 4G mobile service masts went live in the area.

Fourth generation mobile services give people faster access to the internet on smartphones and tablets but there is a small chance that some 4G mobile signals, transmitted at 800 MHz, will cause interference to Freeview - TV received via an aerial.

Signs of interference includes the loss of sound, pictures going blocky, freezing, the TV screen going blank or showing a ‘no signal’ message.

Anyone experiencing issues is urged to call at800, a company set up under government direction which offers free support to households that rely on freeview. There is no charge for the service.

Ben Roome, chief executive officer of at800, said: "We want to ensure that people know it’s our role to fix Freeview interference caused by 4G at 800 MHz.

"We can send you a filter to fit yourself, free of charge, which fits into the aerial lead connecting to TVs and set-top boxes to block mobile signals.

"In most instances, fitting the filter will resolve any interference from 4G at 800 MHz."

Support is also offered for those aged 75 years or older, are registered blind, partially sighted or receiving certain benefits. Telephone 0808 13 13 800 or visit www.at800.tv/contact-us
