A PRESTATYN hotel is hoping to extend its build and create seven new bedrooms.

Lyons Holiday Parks Ltd have submitted proposals to Denbighshire County Council to create a two-storey extension to its Nant Hall Hotel, situated on Prestatyn Road.

The extension, off the rear of the grade two listed building, will house a new function suite on the ground floor and seven new bedrooms.

a Heritage Impact Assessment (and planning statement) report, detailing the extension plans, reads: “The extension would sit predominantly off the existing building, linked by a lightweight lat roof glazed structure, connecting the new and existing.”

Lyons Holiday Parks group has a number of assets across Denbighshire and in adjacent counties, including a number of holiday parks.

The company owns Robin Hood in Rhyl; Winkups in Abergele; Lido Beach in Prestatyn; Eryl Hall in St Asaph; Pendyffryn Hall in Conwy; Woodlands Hall in Ruthin; Mounds in Gronant; St Mary’s in Gronant; Oakfield in Kinmel Bay and Manor House in Cumbria.

Nant Hall Hotel was originally built in the 1870s. In June 2010, the Mound family took over the hotel and restored it.

The hotel recently underwent a major refurbishment and is under new management.

“Acquiring the Nant Hall hotel was a natural extension of the business activities when became available,” the report goes on to say.

“Having carefully refurbished existing bedrooms at the hotel, the demand for more accommodation has been identified along with a market for weddings and social functions.

“In the interim period, functions have been carried out in a temporary marquee on the position of the proposed extension.”
