A FAMILY's spectacular Christmas decoration based on Star Wars could well go down as the best ever among their many years of eye-catching festive creations.

Bill Parry and his son Josh, 25, have created a giant model featuring Chewbacca dressed up as Santa and flying a X-wing fighter.

The creation, which also features R2D2 from the sci-fi film film series, has been well and truly turning heads among people passing their arden in Meliden Road, Prestatyn.

Neighbours are certainly feeling the force as the one-of-a-kind impressive display has been decked out in rope, LED lights and has two smoke machines.

The decoration stands about three or four metres high and its eight metres in length. It has been built from 20 sheets of MDF and roofing battens, while R2D2 has been made from a hot water cylinder.

n the past, the father and son have created a snowman, a Santa on a rocket and the Grinch climbing a tree.

Bill, who runs a plumbing and heating buisiness with his Josh, has received help from friends and neighbours but he said: "It gets harder and harder every year.

"This one has to be the most challenging one by far. The holly bush had to be trimmed quite a bit.

"There is a lot of pressure," he joked. "People say 'what is going on this year?'.

Bill added: "We are going to do a few tweaks. We want to make R2D2 shine out a little more.

"It is very topical at the moment, with the film [The Last Jedi] just coming out in the cinemas.

"We've had a lot of help from people. We did it in four days and they have been long days – from morning until night.

"I'm not sure whether we are going to do it again next year. My wife is turning 50 and my daughter 18, so I might be tied up – but you never know."

This year, the family have decided to use their Christmas creation to fundraise for St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph. Visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bill-parry-xmas-dececoration-xwing to donate.
