A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Meliden.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm last Friday on Ffordd Talargoch, between the One Stop (shop) and the Star Inn pub.

The pedestrian was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in a stable condition. Another patient was also taken to the Bodelwyddan hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gerry Frobisher, mayor of Prestatyn, arrived at the scene and saw paramedics treating someone on the pavement.

He said: "I do not know what happened but I only saw one car so assumed that a pedestrian had been hit.

"This stretch of Ffordd Talargoch is a notorious accident hot spot where people of all ages have walked into the road from the shop or from the park entrance right across the road going to the shop.

"I know that not a great deal can be done to widen the road, but following this accident I will be asking Denbighshire County Council to consider placing 'Beware Pedestrians Crossing' signs at both ends of the narrow length of road. This will make drivers more aware of the possibility of pedestrians crossing the road. I would like the Council to consider that these signs flash a warning light from dusk to dawn fuelled by a solar panel on the top of each post."
