RHYD Y Foel will be transformed into an underwater world this weekend.
This Sunday, July 15 will see a coastal theme take over the village when the Rhyd y Foel Community Center and its marquee are decked out with mermaids, octopuses and fish for the annual Red Cross Open Gardens and Scarecrow Festival event.
The event promises something to suit all tastes, with stalls selling a variety plants, books, jewellery, cards and crafts as well as a variety of musicians from the area.
Refreshments will be available in the village hall, where people can vote for their favourite scarecrow with the theme this year being the celebration of the coast.
Adding a touch of Hawaiian flavour to proceedings, the event will also feature live music from the Colwyn Bay Ukulele Band at 3pm and a hog roast.
The event organisers are on the lookout for anyone willing to open their gardens to the public for the community fundraiser fundraiser. Gardens don't need to look like a show garden or need to be large, and scarecrows and sheep are also welcome as is participation in the theme.
The Open Gardens and Scarecrow festival commences at 11am, entrance is £4 - free for children - with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.
Anyone with a garden they'd like to show can contact Val Woolley 01492 516831.
