The CIWM have thrown their support behind four weekly bin collection.
Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) released a statement which said four weekly black bag waste collection system could safe guard health, increase recycling and still provide a good service.
The organisation outlined a number of services needed to be maintained in order for the new bin collection system to work including weekly food waste and separate nappy collections.
CIWM chief executive Dr Colin Church said: “Councils are committed to providing a good waste collection service and they know how important this is to households. The shape of these services has been changing for a while now as we have all got into the recycling habit, and extending the collection frequency of ‘black bag’ waste is a logical next step.
A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said these comments helped challenge the recent "misinformed and evidence-free criticism" of its waste collection plans.
Head of Neighbourhood Services in Conwy Andrew Wilkinson said: “We make decisions based on evidence and the evidence of our trial of four-weekly refuse collections is that residents have accepted the challenge to recycle more, that there is no significant increase in fly-tipping, and that landfill has reduced by 30 per cent.”
