A RHYL pantomime regular is set to return again this year in Sleeping Beauty.

Denbigh funny man Sean Jones will play Sleeping Beauty's best friend Silly Billy in what will be his sixth panto performance since moving back to the area.

Jones said: "After doing the first panto here, I got offered the second, then the third and now I'm on my sixth one here, so I've become a bit of a staple here.

"It's nice, I walk around and kids come up and looking at me because they've spotted me from the panto."

Being in his sixth pantomime at the Rhyl Pavilion, Jones said he felt at home in the theatre with the staff already feeling like family.

The creativity is what has drawn Jones to pantos, with the role of the comic especially allowing him freedom on stage to make people laugh.

Jones said: "Panto Land, for the lack of a better word, it is this creative environment where we put on a show for a couple of weeks. There is something magical about it."

This year's pantomime Sleeping Beauty he said was a classic and was looking forward to working with a group of different people to adapt this story.

Jones said: "What's good about Sleeping Beauty is everyone thinks they know the story, but actually every story that you heard has probably been slightly different.

"Essentially girl pricks her finger, falls asleep and then wakes up by handsome prince - you can mess around with that story a little bit because that's not an hour and a half, two hours worth of show so we have to pad it out."

Sleeping Beauty is on now at the Rhyl Pavilion and will run until January 6. Tickets are available at the theatre box office on 01745 330 000 or online at http://www.rhylpavilion.co.uk.
