Derek Barker and the schools’ reading dogs were also in attendance.
Much to the delight of pupils, Magic Lights Production brought in an array of puppets.
Stuart Loughland and Libby Edwards showed pupils how to use the puppets and create a performance
Alisha Mckeown, a year eight pupil, had to step in at the last minute to run a drama workshop where year five and six pupils from Ysgol Sant Elfod acted out scenes from their favourite books.
Competitions included designing a bookmark and a book cover.
School librarian Anne Hickey, who organised the event, said: “The children enjoyed the day immensely.”
