VISITORS fell in love with a Valentine crafty session during half term.

Little ones and their parents enjoyed making cards and hearts on sticks at Bodelwyddan Castle and Park.

A woodland themed Crafts session was also held.

Lorraine Lister, marketing officer at Bodelwyddan Castle and Trust and World War One researcher and historian, said: "All the crafts they made were absolutely gorgeous. They all really enjoyed it and it was added value for our season ticket holders. We feel really strongly doing something which involves the community.

"We had a qualified key stage one teacher hosting, Julie Slater.

"With the woodland crafts, they made cards, a little caterpillar. There was plenty of glitter and the children just used their imaginations. They all had ideas of their own and the parents enjoyed it just as much."

The castle is holding a Mother's Day crafting sessions on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11. Julie has once again volunteered her services.

Also during the week, there was story telling and trench tours.

History fans also enjoyed World War One exhibits and took part in meet the curator, which offered visitors the chance to see some original artefacts close up.

Lorraine added: "This was something really quite special. How often do you actually get the chance to handle items like this?"
