A jewellery box containing wedding and engagement rings was stolen while a woman slept.

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses after a house on Plastirion Avenue, in Prestatyn, was burgled between 10.30pm on Friday, May 11 and 4am on Saturday 12.

Burglars made off a small amount of cash and coins, as well as a cream jewellery box containing various rings - including engagement and wedding rings - two gold watches, a gold necklace, gymnastic medals and war memorabilia.

PC 3123 Kayleigh Lloyd said: “A number of items, some very unique and some of sentimental value were taken, including gymnastic medals from 1932 which belonged to her late husband's father.”

“I am asking anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area or carrying a jewellery box to get in touch. I would also like to hear from anyone who lives in the area and has CCTV or dashcam footage.”
